Consultax was founded in 1991 by Jerry M. Epperson, E.A., whose vision was to create a tax service that protected and upheld taxpayers' rights, a service not afraid to challenge and champion IRS tax issues and policies.

Mr. Epperson majored in accounting at Arizona State University, graduating in December of 1983, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration.

He then entered the public accounting field, spending six years at two Los Angeles area CPA firms, where he specialized in tax return and financial statement preparation. Mr. Epperson then returned to the Phoenix, Arizona area and went to work for a nationally known tax attorney, Donald MacPherson, where he was responsible for handling everything from IRS audit and appeal cases to preparing criminal tax defenses.
